Environmental Coordinator for Skellefteå Municipality

We focus on water and wastewater management, working together to create a sustainable future. We need a dedicated environmental coordinator who can help us take the next step in our work. Within the water and wastewater operations in Skellefteå Municipality, there are 15 larger wastewater treatment plants as well as several smaller ones and an extensive sewer network with many pumping stations. The demands for monitoring and treatment of wastewater are increasing, while the opportunities for a more digital working method open up new perspectives. We see similar developments on the drinking water side. Within the municipality, there are 25 waterworks with associated piping systems, and the need for continuous development to meet changing requirements is highly prioritized.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an environmental coordinator, you will play a central role in monitoring and managing our environmental-related processes and projects. You will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable working methods and ensuring that we meet all environmental requirements and guidelines. Your tasks will include environmental monitoring and disseminating news within the organization, as well as providing advice and guidance to production units on environmental issues. Furthermore, you will develop our reporting methods, including statistics and environmental reports. This also includes handling permit applications and reporting environmental data. You will also be the contact person for industries and manage cases and inquiries related to emissions and water protection areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with knowledge of the Environmental Code, particularly in the area of environmentally hazardous activities. It is advantageous if you have previous experience working in municipal operations or companies with water and wastewater management. You should have a technical or natural science education at the university level with a focus on the environment or equivalent competence.

You work independently but appreciate collaborating with others to achieve good solutions. As a person, you are structured and analytical. You gather information and make assessments and priorities before decisions. In this role, it is important to communicate well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. You are comfortable using digital tools in the Office suite.
